* Printmaking is a field of art that facilitates reaching broader audiences thanks to its reproducibility and alternative exhibition possibilities. It encompasses editioned works created by transferring patterns—crafted by artists using various materials of their choice—onto paper or similar surfaces. The artist’s choice of material in making the matrix determines the printing process and the outcome. Printmaking is divided into distinct techniques based on the material used in the matrix and the type of printing. The physical differences inherent in the matrix allow printmaking to be grouped into intaglio, relief, planographic, and screen printing techniques.
